Review

  • Superb acting (even if it was in German) (+1)
  • Highly moving topic (+1)
  • Good cinematography & art direction (+1/2)
  • Met HIGH expectations (+1)

I could not have been more delighted by this movie. The previews promised something strong and moving, something that would provide a fascinating insight in pre-Wall Germany, and it delivered in spades. Some of the actors’ performances were deeply moving and I found myself not wanting for the movie to end. I cannot recommend enough. (-1 if you don’t like movies with social commentary.)
