Directed by Jason Reitman (son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the 1984 Ghostbusters), this movie focuses on the grandchildren of one of the original ghostbusters. It’s a delightful tribute to the first movie and features many of the same tropes, except with young teenagers. It would be easy to dislike such a young cast, but they do a great job of carrying the legacy of this legendary franchise.

For anyone who’s familiar with the original actors, it’s important to know that Harold Ramis (who co-wrote the original movie with Dan Akroyd) passed away in 2014. In many ways, the entire movie is a love letter to him, and deservedly so. From all accounts, he was a wonderful man and lovingly remembered by his friends and family.

+/-

  • Good visuals (+0.5)
  • Tributes to the original movie (+1.5)
